It's pretty basic, you choose from a couple dozen maps to play out a skirmish with a few other factions (You can set handicaps and a surprising number of options with their potency. In other words, if the AI is too easy, you can have them cheat.) Then there's the survival, which allows you to set waves of enemies invading your village to a certain amount after a set time has past, or you could just set the waves to 0 for unlimited invasions whenever you want. Just push the invasion button.Pixel-customization is there, but low at the moment. I really wish there was more options with regards to what you can do with your characters. I hear it all can be modded easily by those who have the ability to create assets.I should mention that you are in charge of one character (More if you choose companions from your roster of created characters.), and the villagers pretty much just hoard their own resources and pull from those themselves. I'm not sure if their AI is set to take advantage of all the mechanics, the buy/sell mechanic from the market in particular and recruitment from the barracks. The most I can say there is that I hope the developer will get to it, as this game is still in early access.I love grindy games, and this is a very grindy game. I believe you can grind to very high levels both character level and skill levels. You cannot take the equipment you make from one match to another new one, which kinda made me whine but I could understand there needs to be at least some balancing between games. You're basically starting from scratch every match, with the exception of your characters level/perk/skill levels. You can set the starting age and ending age. You can customize the AI of your companions and main character, and even automate them so they carry out the AI priorities. It's great fun for pixel-junkies like me who like to create their own narratives in games.. Fun little game. There are a couple parts that are pointlessly boring - the market and the barracks. I get it that the game balance would be broken if you could just spam buy \/ sell from either. But, sitting there waiting for 3 boring minutes for your pawn to buy mercenaries isn't really 'fun'.Never-the-less, I did enjoy the campaign. I do recommend the game.. I was pleasantly suprised, for this price it's a steal. Get it.. Pros:Fun, addictive, high replayabilityCons:I played like 20 hours without any problems. But then the crashing started. Very annoying.. Well it wasn't the worst game I played but it was very hard to play without heavily modding the game files. Toward the end I felt like I was forcing myself to play but I knew I was about finished so I pushed through. I think the ideas were great but the execution could have been better. I likedthe ages system and upgrading your buildings and units but the UI is really bad and things weren't always easy to figure out. Sadly the best part about the AI was that you could set your own character on auto pilot, a feature I would love to see in other games but had to heavily rely on here because I just didn't want to play. Also it was bad, it would get stuck in a continuous loop after a while and if I left it go for too long I would lose and have to restart the mission (and they felt like they took far too long to do once). The english translations could use a touch up but weren't as bad as some others might say. It would be worth a look if you're into indie RPG games and have a lot of time and patience.. This game is interesting and good for a few hours diversion at this point. I like the idea behind it, kind of an RTS/Simulation hybrid where you are only in control of yourself--the other villagers do their own thing. Your main goal in each stage is to survive against an onslaught of monsters or wipe out the enemy village and its soulless, nameless automatons of evil before they do the same to you. I like the fact your main character's stats are persistent across all the stages, and even free mode, so you can constantly grind up your skills to make yourself the Lu Bu of your tribe. It is impossible to really describe in terms of other games as I have never played anything quite like it, but it works pretty well and leaves me eager to see how it turns out if the developer keeps at it, which so far he has.Make no mistake, there are a lot of *cons*--the AI needs work, the scenarios need fleshed out, and the English translation needs attention from an expert (i.e., a native speaker)--to name a few. Still, on the whole they are off to a good start. $10 seems a little steep for what you get at this point considering you can get Skyrim on sale for $5, but it is obviously developed by a very small team experimenting with things that have never been tried before--and they have been updating it--so I don't feel bad paying it.I recommend this if you like RTSs and simulations and don't have anything against quirky indie games, or are on the lookout for something completely different.. The concept of the game is great, no doubt, but there are some things that kind of destroy the flow of playing it:- the combat feels super slow and due to this kinda boring- for some reason the game has 2 "tutorial" campaigns which both teach the same stuff in slightly different missions but you have to complete both if you are aiming for all achievements- there is no real way to test how good you really are at surviving since you can just change literally every single setting from monster number to start resources when playing it (dont get me wrong thats not bad for practise: But in addition a set survival challenge would be great)- last but most important since that is the long term motivation part of the game for me: The AI is stupid as **** sometimes.... Since the game is overall slightly repetitive I felt like trying to make a team of AI players work together as good as possible is the best way for me to get better at the game and not to get bored. So I really LIKED the possibility to create priority lists in terms of weapons, buildings, .... for those AI s while trying to optimize them one after another. Doing that was a bit disappointing, cause for example telling one AI to only build stuff sometimes resulted in this particular AI running around for minutes cause it didnt find a free spot for the building with its pattern which is like: 2 steps, check for space, repeat.Overall its a good game on a fair price. This is a good game
